Freddy Nightmare Run is one of those games that really makes a difference for me so in the following lines I would like to provide a detailed review about my experience while playing.I must say that I really like a game that tells a good story and gives you a clear motive to play, as it’s always nice to have a prologue that builds your interest up right from the start.
This is the case for our current title as once the game starts, an introduction screen containing four artistic sketches is displayed showing a young boy in front of his video games console, looking kind of mad as he didn’t managed to complete the game he was playing.Once the user clicks the “next” button, the second artistic sketch is displayed followed by the sound of an opening door. The young boy’s mother appears asking him to go to bed and get some rest.
Third screen shows Freddy in his bed falling a sleep, while the fourth one presents our buddy all sweat and terrified by a nightmare of him being inside a game where he needs to run and escape the evil Soul Catcher.
A nice animation with Freddy running and closely being followed by the Soul Catcher waving his scythe is featured on the Star Menu screen catching your attention and providing a clear clue about the type of game you are going to play.
It’s all clear now that this will be a runaway course where you must help Freddy avoid getting caught, while jumping and sliding through obstacles. But wait this is not all, dangerous traps are set everywhere and more enemies appears in front of you so things get’s messy quite fast around here.As you probably observed our young hero Freddy has a pretty scared expression on his face and by looking at the challenges he needs to complete you can easily understand why. It’s not an easy task especially for a kid to jump over large holes or deadly spikes, slide underneath suspended balancing axes and avoid getting slashed by rotating saws and such.
More on this, two times in each level Soul Catcher somehow manages to get really close to you and the only way to avoid getting hit by his scythe is to jump exactly at the right moment. To master this moment all you need to do is observe his moves and when he arms his weapon to launch an attack jump and you are safe.
Here is a quick hint for you: Just as you jumped also shoot to get the incoming skeleton that will appear next on the screen.
Starting with second level a new type of obstacle is introduced each time you clear a stage making your mission even more difficult to complete and the Soul Catcher will also appear from the right side also shooting against you. To avoid this kind of attack you need to slide under.
Don’t let yourself scared by the phantoms that rise up from time, it won’t harm you at all so don’t take any measures against it.
Collect as much coins as you can because once you hit 100 you will be granted an extra life.
After several tries and almost 30 minutes of continuous play I managed to finish all five levels but I must say I was kind of surprised seeing that all you get once you complete the mission is a “to be continued” message.
Yet thinking more about it I can’t wait to see the sequel of this great title.
