This article sets the purpose to cover the top online flash games of 2016 that one would consider worth playing. Please keep in mind that I will update this page monthly once new titles will make their way on the market and one should also be able to realize that this article is rather subjective to my personal opinion when it comes to choose the best games that will be reviewed here. When judging a game I like to take into consideration specific factors just like the ones mentioned bellow:
- The game needs to tell a good story, a great story is even better.
- The player should have a clear idea regarding the goal behind the game.
- Nice graphics and a music that will fit the action is also a must.
- Navigation through the menus should be intuitive and without misleading buttons.
- Excessive advertising inside is a totally NO NO for me.
- The game should always have an ending (other then the GAME OVER screen), endless running type or alike are not for me.
- Realistic behavior when it comes to physics should be always considered.
- Introduction animations and other small transitions between levels or such are always welcome.
- Achievements and other bonuses always make a good impression.
- The game needs to tell a good story, a great story is even better.
As you probably observed the #1 and #10 factors are the same, as I really do think that when it comes to games just as when it comes to movies the scenario behind the actual product is what matters the most. Having a good scenario as the main frame and creating a set of challenges that the player will be intrigued by as the action begins to flow is the goal that every developer should aim once taking on the job to build a new title.
Having said a lot regarding my way of judging that lies behind building this 2016 top of best flash games let’s take on our first review candidate.
I must say right from the start that I have been waiting for this game to come out as I really enjoyed playing the first part. The fact that I took some time and managed to complete the first episode opened my appetite for more, especially after getting the “to be continued” message at the end of the last level. So once I got the word about the sequel being published out on the flash games market I said let’s have a look into it and see what the developers prepared for us this time.
My personal opinion is that this sequel is an improved version of the first one judging by the fact that the action is quite similar, yet managing to continue the story just from the point where it ended. The game incorporates some new features that take it to the next level by using a more complex behavior for Freddy, and adding new elements to the scene in the form of new type of enemies, obstacles and interactive background elements. I’ve also seen some slight improvements over the collision detection part that kind of failed at some point in Freddy Nightmare Run 1.
The best thing about this part is the fact that you now have a direct real confrontation between Freddy and Soul Catcher in the boss level, giving you the possibility to destroy the evil monster once and for good.
Yet after successfully completing this game the player will most sure feel a bit of frustration as one would expect that once the Soul Catcher is defeated, Freddy would woke up from his nightmare and we would expect to see some nice “happy ending animation scenes” showing Freddy woke up in his bed all sweat and blessing the fact the the whole thing was just a nightmare.
Were the developers lacking in imagination when it comes the this part, was this on purpose just to let space for a 3rd part of this game? Who knows, time will tell.
Leo’s Red Carpet Rampage
2016 will be a year that Leonardo Dicaprio will remember for sure as he finally got his hands on the long awaited OSCAR golden statue. I don’t really know if he was indeed that desperate to win such an award or this rumor just spread by itself yet this became shortly a subject for jokes and such. Some fellows got too inspired by this so they decided to create a game specially dedicated to this. The game is called “Leo’s Red Carpet Rampage” and it was released online a few days earlier then the OSCAR ceremony. Even though the game was build as a parody, it’s quite funny and enjoyable. The action follows Leonardo Dicaprio while struggling to get his hands on the precious golden statue by literally running after it. As expect he is not the only one aiming for this so you really need to outrun all the other celebrities while escaping paparazzi and all sort of other obstacles.
Giving the fact that one needs to constantly push the “H” and “J” keyboard buttons like crazy in order to help Leo speed up, the player somehow gets to feel the eager for wining as it would appear for Leo itself.
At the end of each level some sort of bonus mini games will be available to play stressing you and your keyboard even more, yet this adds a lot to the fun part of the game.
It’s been a long time since I found myself playing this kind of keyboard braking type of game but I really enjoy it, so it had to be mentioned here on this list right on the second place.
